DISRUPTION TO MAIL SERVICES

13 September 2000

We have been advised by Hays DX that there is likely to be some disruption to their services while the current fuel crisis continues.

DX mail will be uplifted and sorted today and deliveries will be made to central Scotland. However, there may be some difficulty in delivering beyond this area and the possibility of further disruption tomorrow and beyond. Royal Mail say that normal services will continue until the end of this week.

Applications and correspondence

While this situation continues, we suggest that you make use of fax and e-mail facilities to send mail to the Board. It might be best to check with DX about collection and delivery of mail in your own area, and where possible, continue to use postal services. If, however, you cannot do so, applications and correspondence can be sent to the following fax numbers.

Audit & Compliance

If you send applications by fax, you should send the original to us when mail services return to normal.

Accounts assessment

Due to the volume of paper involved and the nature of accounts, we do not feel that it is appropriate to submit accounts by fax. You can continue to use the accounts fax numbers for correspondence relating to accounts which have already been submitted.

We will monitor the situation at the weekend and, if the disruption to services continues beyond then, we will assess the situation in relation to accounts and make other arrangements. If accounts are delayed beyond the submission time limit, we will use our discretion to accept these.

Correspondence by e-mail

In addition, we will accept queries or correspondence by e-mail to the following addresses. Please note that applications and accounts cannot be sent by e-mail.

Clearly, like other businesses, if the situation continues beyond the weekend, it will begin to affect the service we can provide. We will do everything within our power to minimise the disruption.
