Board Members and how we are managed
Our work is overseen by Board Members, who are appointed by Scottish Ministers (the number of Members can vary between 11 and 15). To provide a balanced range of knowledge and experience, they include people from the wider community as well as solicitors and advocates.
To fulfil legitimate public interest, remuneration paid as at 31 December 2011 to its Chief Executive, as well as the fees paid to the Chair and Board members appointed to the Scottish Legal Aid Board, are disclosed as follows:
Lindsay, Montgomery, Chief Executive £105,000 - £109,999 a year
The
Board operates a register of Board Members’ interests in line
with the Code of Best Practice for Board Members of Public Bodies.
This requires members to notify us of all relevant interests. The
register is updated on a quarterly basis and is available for inspection
upon request at our offices and below on this site.
the rules and guidelines relevant to the exercise of the Board’s functions, duties and powers;
the conditions under which any public funds are paid to the Board;
how the Board is to be held to account for its performance.
The financial memorandum sets out in greater detail certain aspects of the financial provisions that the Board is required to observe.
